Sunny Morn

Saturday, June 15th, 2019
Chestnut-sided Warbler.

First t-shirt day of the year, mosquitos be damned! A nice, warm, sunny morning with temperatures in the 70s (F). Birds were quiet (nesting) but active (food). Got a few photos. Woo-hoo!

Fun morning, Mostly sun, lots of safety gear And plenty of birds int the fringes. You have to work for an ID at this time of year, in this ecosystem, but I’ll just look forwar to trying.

Fun as Heck

Friday, June 14th, 2019
Utility pole crow, Rockport, Maine, 14 June 2019.
Utility pole crow.

A gray morning, then a few snippets of sun, then damp an overcast. Freshets and rivulets were busy carrying the water from yesterday’s rain down to the sea.

Saw quite a few birds, but nothing like fully fair days in June. Still wet from rain, muddy, and fun as heck.

Before the Rain

Thursday, June 13th, 2019
Veery, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 13 June 2019.
Veery.

Under an overcast sky, before the rain, Sarah and I hiked up through the woods—and topped yesterday’s number of species. On the way back down, in the lower woodlands, we stood for a while as nearly a dozen species called and flitted and sang.

I figured all the activity was an attempt to get things done before the rain.
