American Crow.

Woke up early to the sound of the wind. Not unexpected, as forecasters had warned of Tropical Storm Philippe’s swift arrival overnight. Lost power at 6:30 a.m. Gusts were hitting 70 miles per hour. But the rain had passed, and the winds soon diminished to perhaps 30 mph, so Jack and I left to check on the hill.

Some deadfall, but nothing like much of the rest of the coast experienced. Boats escaping moorings, trees fall across highways, on roofs, on cars. Tonight, as I write this, thousands remain without power.

A bunch of birds on today’s list, nonetheless. Big blow, but the crows don’t care.

Our lights came back on about 10:30 a.m.
