Hike in Fog

Wednesday, June 26th, 2019
American Redstart, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 26 June 2019.
American Redstart.

Rained overnight and into this morning. Waited until 9 to hit the hill. Plenty foggy once we got there, dog and I.

The hike was good nevertheless. Quite a few species listed (mostly just heard)—including an American Redstart brightly singing in a cloud of fog.

Heard a Savannah Sparrow, too. Kind of made my day.

Fun as Heck

Friday, June 14th, 2019
Utility pole crow, Rockport, Maine, 14 June 2019.
Utility pole crow.

A gray morning, then a few snippets of sun, then damp an overcast. Freshets and rivulets were busy carrying the water from yesterday’s rain down to the sea.

Saw quite a few birds, but nothing like fully fair days in June. Still wet from rain, muddy, and fun as heck.
