Birdsong, revisited

Alder Flycatcher, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 01 June 2014.

Alder Flycatcher.

I think my favorite bird song is that of the Eastern Wood-pewee. Just something wistful and lonesome and pensive, like old memories of summer when you were a kid. Or something. Anyway, I was lucky enough to get a video of a singing pewee this morning. One cool thing about it is a couple of ravens were going nuts vocally not that far away, and you can hear their croaking. Also Ovenbirds (of course).

Otherwise, not as many birds today—but a surprisingly good look at an Alder Flycatcher (they were all over the hill today). And I also got a video of a singing Common Yellowthroat. Which, by the way, I sacrificed a mosquito bite on the back of my hand to snag.

A lovely afternoon. Rode sixteen miles on my bike, heard more birds A nice cool evening out there just now.

No doubt more fun tomorrow.
