 Savannah Sparrow (juvie).
Another cool, bright morning. Got to the hill early and encountered a shitload of birds. Many (most) with youngsters, of course—saw a few fledglings, including a bright, fresh Savannah Sparrow on one of the Beech Nut walls. Listed my first White-throated Sparrow in quite a while. Heard another Red-breasted Nuthatch.
 Eastern Bluebird.
This summer, seemingly more Wood Lilies, bluebirds, and Barn Swallows than I can remember. Monarchs the past couple days.
I love Friday the Thirteenth.

 Song Sparrow.
Lovely, cool, and bright first thing. Lots of birds and their fledglings about, mostly kept well hidden. Got a glimpse of a young robin and heard fledgling chippies and catbirds. Saw Eastern Chipmunk and American Red Squirrel; ran into the Snowshoe hare again coming up the hill. Waxwings were in the spruce grove, chasing down flies. Saw bees, wasps, dragonflies, and a Monarch.
 Snowshoe Hare.

 Eastern Towhee (male).
Cool and overcast morning. Temps in the low-60s (F) and a scant, fragrant breeze. Heard towhees teaching their youngsters to sing, saw another family of Barn Swallows, spotted a solitary Kingbird atop the tallest spruce in the summit grove, and through my binoculars caught sight of a Common Grackle flying by wayout toward the bay.
 Fireweed.
Also ate my daily fireweed blossom.
