 Scarlet Tanager.
I can dig chasing down a Scarlet Tanager. I like sneaking along the understory, scanning the newly leafed-out crowns of of the hardwoods, hoping for just a glimpse of red. Well, today I got a look at at least two—and I’m wondering how I might prolong this thing.
Excited to find out what tomorrow brings.

 Black-and-white Warbler.
An interesting assortment along the open Beech Hill trail this sunny day—including a woodcock, a pair of ravens, and a cuckoo. The Wood Thrush is still singing up a storm near the parking lot (working on getting a video). And I somehow managed to photograph a singing Black-and-white Warbler.

 Brown-headed Cowbird (fledgling).
The robins have already fledged,
And surely other birds have, too,
This morning’s cowbird startled me
When ever it first flew.*
