Eastern Towhee.
Coolish, overcastish. Not as active-seeming early (other than clouds of black flies—which, thankfully, don’t seem to bite me as often as they used to), but became so after a while.
Two first-of-year species (kingbird, black-throated blue). Nice spring smells. Greenery.
Driving home, I felt something crawling behind my right ear. Grabbed it off with thumb and index finger: a tick. Not a deer tick, a wood tick.
I love this day.
