Particularly Great

Friday, April 17th, 2020
Common Raven, East Millcreek, Salt Lake City, Utah, 17 April 2020.
Common Raven.
House Finch (male), East Millcreek, Salt Lake City, Utah, 17 April 2020.
House Finch (male).

Saw more ravens today. In fact I saw (and/or heard) more bird species generally, considering Jack and I had a three-and-a-half-hour hike, ascending more than 2,000 feet and covering four miles.

First Golden Eagle in a while. Got to see a singing solitaire. Got a clear listen to the voice of a Mountain Chickadee. Watched pairs of flickers dash and chase at about 7,000 feet. (The singing solitaire was particularly great.)

Later, at home, I got a glimpse of a Sharp-shinned Hawk that flew low and murderously across the street to a snag in a neighbor’s yard.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
