 American Redstart (male).
Jack and I had company on our morning hike today. A friend and a friend of a friend (now also a friend) liked the idea of looking around for birds at Beech Hill. And it was a good day for it—more than 30 species, including an obliging Scarlet Tanager that flew over the barren hillside in plain view.
Several birds popped up for photos—not least striking a handsome male American Redstart.
Birds, humans, and dogs: good company indeed.

 American Redstart.
A cool, clear Sunday morning in June. Many birds about—albeit mostly (if not all) local nesters. Nesting is going on, with some birds on eggs still, others likely have young fledglings by now.
Watched a pair of Broad-winged Hawks chasing around in the sky.
Sweet last weeks before the Summer Solstice.

 Common Yellowthroat.
Temps in the 60s (F) first thing, but quickly rising higher. Humid and buggy, but too warm for a lots bird action. Anyway, resident nesters are starting to settle in, and the number of through-migrants are thinning fast. Still, I got a nice photo of a joyful Common Yellowthroat.
Ah, June, June.
