 Seen in the sky.
Up the hill a bit late this morning—a warmish, bright morning with a slight breeze—but still encountered quite a few songbirds. And Monarchs, and a couple other butterflies. Also, at the summit, our annual August fly hatch tempted several Cedar Waxwings and a solitary Yellow Warbler.
 Yellow Warbler.
Came up again in afternoon to check out the solar eclipse. The daylight dimmed a bit, and the warm air cooled by maybe five degrees. Totality was far from here—but thanks to the impeccable timing of a cloud blowing over, I actually got a photo of The Thing.

 Alder Flycatcher.
The highlight of this morning’s hike came with the surprise appearance of a House Wren near the summit. But the portrait of the day belonged to a comely Alder Flycatcher.
