Warm day

Savannah sparrow, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 07 May 2013.

Savannah sparrow.

Up and to Beech Hill early—but without Jack for a change. [Did some shooting of my book trailer, which involved another dog.] Misty and damp first thing, but with plenty of birds about. I didn’t start keeping good track, though, until I returned with dog at 9:30. The sun had come out by then, and things had warmed into the upper-60s (F). First, we met a birding couple, the Smiths. Then we ran into members of a birding party (Mid-Coast Audubon and Coastal Mountains Land Trust). Then we saw a bunch of hawks—several of them broad-wings—and some randy Savannah sparrows.

Black-and-white warbler, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 07 May 2013.

Black-and-white warbler.

Spent nearly all the morning on the hill today, walking all trails. Then, this afternoon, I took a fast bike ride.

And now, this evening, I’m ready to hit the sack.
