Hare

Eastern bluebird (juvenile), Beech Hill Preserve, 08 July 2013.

Eastern bluebird (juvenile).

Late-in-the day hike today—an overcast, cooler day that began with early rain showers. Dry enough in afternoon to take a nice bicycle ride. Much cooler (70s (F)). Good long hike.

Snowshoe hare, Beech Hill Preserve, 08 July 2013.

Snowshoe hare.

Highlights were a juvenile bluebird or two in the birches along the open trail, a pair of voles in the grass at the edge of the wooded trail, and a solitary snowshoe hare coming up the hill near the main gate—unnoticed by Jack (perhaps the biggest surprise).

A coolish evening, too.
