 Savannah Sparrow.
I’d seen a couple Savannah Sparrows in the past few days, but I had’t yet heard one sing until this morning. Several little singers, posted at various locations around the summit fields, singing their sweet soothing song with the little hiccup at the end.
I love Savannah Sparrows.

 Eastern Towhee.
Heard a Barred Owl this early morning out my bedroom window. It uttered a single, descending hoot nearby, like the end of its usual call. After a minute, the hoot came softly, as the owl moved away.
Later, upon awakening, I waited for a lull in the rain, then hiked the hill with Jack—where we encountered towhees in the rain.
