Unseen Raven

Thursday, August 10th, 2023
Eastern Bluebird (juvie), Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 10 August 2023.
Eastern Bluebird (juvie).

Sunny and cool to start this morning, with a bit of haze in the air. Very slight breeze. The birds were still pretty quiet—except, notably, for a raven loudly testing its various calls unseen in a tree on a rise.

Never saw the raven, but I got to see waxwings in a fly hatch again, and got a nice pic of a juvie bluebird.

A Beautiful July Morning

Saturday, July 7th, 2018

Great Blue Heron, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 07 July 2018.

Great Blue Heron.

A beautiful morning, a day much cooler than yesterday. Nearly cloudless, with a flushed woodcock, Great Blue Heron flyover, and more Barn Swallows teaching their fledglings to hunt flies.

Jack and I had nice visits with dogs and humans at the summit also.

A beautiful July morning.
