Scorcher

Wednesday, July 4th, 2018

Common Yellowthroat (panting), Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 04 July 2018.

Common Yellowthroat (panting).

Fourth of July dawned clear and rather balmy—and warmed up from there. Very soon I encountered, in the shade, a brand new Chestnut-sided Warbler fledgling. And adults of other species clearly looking out for their own offspring. Notable were Red-breasted Nuthatch, Great Crested flycatcher, and a Common Yellowthroat panting like a crow.
