Paradise

Common Yellowthroat, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 27 June 2014.

Common Yellowthroat.

Lovely, gorgeous, blue-sky, warm summer day. I ended up spending the better part of it inside—but I did get out late for a nice long bike ride. Then I rescued Jack from his nap and we headed up to Beech Hill.

Bloobs, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 27 June 2014.

Bloobs.

I had plumb forgotten that today was Beech Nut’s 100th birthday celebration. The parking lot was jammed, and happy, talkative humans were moseying up and down the main farm trail. Jack enjoyed the extra activity—he’s a herding dog, after all—and I enjoyed a little conversation myself. The birds, however, kind of laid farther back than usual.

Still a few hanging around. Nice to hear the Field Sparrows bouncy song.

Tonight is cool and lovely. I’m feeling like I have a home in paradise.

Water droplets

Savannah Sparrow, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 26 June 2014.

Savannah Sparrow.

Rained like crazy this early morning before I woke up. Still drizzling throughout the morning—a stressful, busy ol’ morning. By mid-afternoon, although it remained overcast, things had dried up, so Jack and I took a hike.

Water droplets clung to the daisies and the tiny little new blueberries in the field.

Tuesday photos

Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 25 June 2014.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

Got to Beech Hill today late, after a meeting up in Belfast. Had light rain earlier, but it had stopped by then, and the trail was pretty dry. One surprise was the swift Merlin that flew low over the little roadside blueberry field. Also didn’t expect to hear a singing Wood Thrush.

Otherwise, nothing too outlandish to report, so here are a couple more photos.
