Too Dry

Steller’s Jay, East Millcreek, Salt Lake City, Utah, 11 February 2022.
Steller’s Jay.

Another lovely morning hike with dog. However—as I’ve been noting—it’s really way too dry. Or should I say, much dryer than is usual for these parts at this time of year. In short, we’ve got ourselves a megadrought.

Felt like spring again, and the birds appear to be enjoying it, such as there are—and there were quite a few species today. But I’m missing a few, too, e.g., when’s the last time I saw a Mountain Chickadee? Seems last winter they were coming down to visit neighborhood feeders.

Most snow has melted, and the trail is muddy, and the temperature reached 50° (F) again. Crazy.

Still, Mother Nature has her reasons, I do believe,
