Hot day. Muggy, too. Worked at my desk in front of a fan until mid-afternoon, when I drove up to meet some friends for swimming where the Ducktrap meets the sea. The water was just perfect. Have really missed swimming. At one point, a bald eagle flew over.
Later, I hiked Beech Hill with Jack. Really hot up there. And muggy. And full of sparrows. Savannah sparrows, song sparrows, field sparrows, chipping sparrows—all flitting and bouncing around, chipping and feinting and working hard to keep us away from the young-uns.
Only hiked the open trail but came back, sweaty, with quite a few species on my list.
Tonight will be a warm one, but that’s all right. We got fans.
