 Eastern Towhee.
Cooled off a little today. Long Monday of desk work, followed by a sweet summer walk up a hill with Jack. Noteworthy was a hummingbird sighting near the old sapsucker holes—and that lonesome bobwhite calling on the Beech Hill slopes for the third straight day.
 Saddle and Mark.

 Common Yellowthroat.
Hiked with Jack today about the same time as yesterday—but ran into a birder friend and ended up chatting, birding, and getting bit by mosquitos for a half-hour or more. Was very nice.
(The lonesome bobwhite was there again today.)

 Broad-winged Hawk.
A working Saturday, followed by a warm (and solo, oddly) Beech Hill hike with Jack, during which I heard the distinctive, repeated cry of a Northern Bobwhite quail—a bird I had never before seen or heard in my thirty-five years in Maine. (Guessing it escaped custody.)
 Blubes.
