Thirty

Friday, June 10th, 2022

And the sun came up, and it shone on the landscape uninterrupted by any cloud. And the wind rose from the west and caused the new-leafed trees to whisper and sigh. And dog and I had a lovely morning hike (plus a little dog/human interaction).

And I listed thirty bird species.

Fog

Black-throated Green Warbler, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 08 June 2022.
Black-throated Green Warbler.

Rained all morning, maybe totaling an inch or so. Stopped in afternoon, so dog and I had ourselves a drippy hike up a hill—just Jack and me and the trees and birds and mosquitos.

Truly a lovely, luscious hike. Water. It’s what I missed while out west; it’s what we got today.

Lovely Hike

American Redstart (first-year male), Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 07 June 2022.
American Redstart (first-year male).

A lovely hike with dog. A sunny morning—cool, with a bit of breeze. Mosquitos, but I didn’t care. Nice chat with an old acquaintance.

At home, a cardinal. Rain coming, so a wet few days to come.
