Saw a goldfinch this morning—an American Goldfinch. Possibly the only one of this species I’ve seen in Utah (although I’ve heard a bunch), and certainly the only one I’ve photographed. In my first year here, I wasn’t even aware they hung out in this region. Anyway, it was cool.
Cooler still was finishing strong today. Dog and I were approaching the end of our hike when I got my tenth species (a heard siskin), but as we neared the trailhead, I added four more—including the goldfinch.
(Was kind of wild, but I’m not complainin’.)
