Swallows

Saturday, May 4th, 2019
Tree Swallow, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 04 May 2019.
Tree Swallow.

Swallows are cool birds. I’ve admired the flight skills of Tree Swallows for man years—they move like no other species. There are a bunch of ’em on the hill these days, checking out the bird boxes. Some will nest, some youngsters will emerge.

At least one or two (of the six) boxes should be occupied by bluebirds. But swallows also have a place in my heart.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
