Spring’s Progression

Sunday, April 14th, 2019
White-throated Sparrow, Rockport, Maine, 14 April 2019.
White-throated Sparrow.

Warm, warm today—high near 60° (F). Overcast for most of it, with a little sun later. Tomorrow will bring rain. But today’s conditions presented an interesting shift in species count—primarily in the realm of sparrows.

Three species of sparrow at home. Two on the hill. Also on the hill: the voice of a flicker for the first time in quite a while. And golden-crowned kinglets—a pair on the hill, a pair in my back yard. That’s gotta say something about their timing.

Most memorable moment was when the White-throated Sparrow decided to perch about back just as I was standing there waiting for a photo opp.
