A funny thing happened at Beech Hill this morning. I was busy counting birds, making my daily mental list, hearing familiar voices, racking up the numbers, when I paused to take a video of the Tree Swallow couple I featured yesterday. While focused on the two preening swallows, it dawned on my that from down the eastern slope came the familiar song of an Eastern Towhee.
I bet it took me nearly a full minute to realize I was hearing another first-of-year bird.?
