House Finch (male).

Spent the day at my desk and running around doing errands. But that didn’t stop the birds from showing up. These included a little gang of magpies that seemed obsessed with the tire of my pickup, a random Song Sparrow, and a couple species of finches.

Here’re photos of the finches.

It was a nice surprise.

Northern Flicker (red-shafted race).

In the past week or so I’ve seen my first red-shafted flickers. Kind of fun. More than kind of fun, all these new bird species (and, in this case, races).

And since fall migration is winding up, it’s an especially exciting time of year.
