Sleeping well

Wild Turkey, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 05 May 2015.

Wild Turkey.

Early hike with Jack. And in a t-shirt! ’Bout time.

Black-and-white Warbler, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 05 May 2015.

Black-and-white Warbler.

Sun and haze and sun. Ovenbird and yellowthroat and turkey. Migration has begun. (Well, not the turkey—the other guys.) Would’ve enjoyed the hike a lot more if I hadn’t come upon a bunch of senseless overnight vandalism by (no doubt) drunk idiots. They broke or pulled up posts, smashed a tractor window, overturned heavy boardwalks, and tried to kick in a couple windows up at Beech Nut. In thousands of hikes up there, that was a first. Just humans being humans, I guess. Congratulations dumbasses.

But the birds didn’t much care. They were active, singing, claiming territory. Crazy that I only have twenty-eight on my list, ’cause there seemed to be a lot more.

In afternoon I did so much yard work I made myself sore.

And tonight I shall sleep well.
