Sub-freezing again this morning, but calm and (mostly) cloudless. Wore new winter hiking boots, ditched my winter coat. (Good boots, no need of coat.) Had nice luck with birds again.
The usual species, for the most part. Most abundant? Dark-eyed Juncos. They were everywhere, chipping that sharp chip of theirs, uttering subtle trills, flashing those white-edged tailfeathers. Couple kinglets, bunch of chickadees, bunch of towhees—and another pair of Juniper Titmice.
Good hike with dog.
