Fledglings

Eastern Towhee fledgling, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockoprt, Maine, 14 June 2018.

Eastern Towhee fledgling.

On this foggy June morning in Maine, I happened upon a tiny Eastern Towhee fledgling, not really that much larger than its egg. I suspect this was its first or second day out of the nest, in fact—too young even to have a tail.

Heard the soft voices of a couple other fledglings today also. Spring and summer pass so swiftly here on the 44th parallel.
