Trap Day

Common Yellowthroat.

Here on the mainland, scatterings of small passerines are moving through the undergrowth, and larger birds—flickers, jays—are flapping from tree to tree. The landscape is getting October colorful. It’s the first of October, after all, here on the 44th parallel.

Meanwhile, out on Monhegan Island, this was Trap Day.
