Little April Snow

Friday, April 6th, 2018
Eastern Bluebird, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 06 April 2018.

Eastern Bluebird.

A bright, brisk morning with clouds flying by. Temps around freezing kept mud to a minimum, but there weren’t a whole lot of birds around. Although I did watch a bluebird, a phoebe, and a robin flitting about the same little blueberry field for a while.

This was all before the little April snow.

Early April

American Robin, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 05 April 2018.

American Robin.

Early April can be cold. When the wind comes insistently from the west, it can be face-numbingly cold. It can also be bright—even birdy. This was not a birdy morning, but it was a cold and bright one.

This Little Chickadee.

Black-capped Chickadee.

Rained all night, drizzle this morning, foggy on the hill. Loads of birds, though—including a first-of-year Brown-headed Cowbird (heard). My favorite bird of the day, though: this little chickadee.
