Lull

Tuesday, May 1st, 2018
Osprey, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 01 May 2018.

Osprey.

“Hooray, hooray! It’s the first of May!” In fact it was an inauspicious day.

Overcast and chilly, kept missing photos, Jack rolled in wild animal poop. (Only the second time he’s ever done such a thing. Seriously?) Not much in the way of new migrants—poor meteorological conditions created a lull.

But there was a drumming grouse. The cries of a Pileated Woodpecker. A low-flying Osprey. Even a Snowshoe Hare, bounding away.

And I did remember to say “rabbit, rabbit” after all.
