Got finished with a long, hard, time-consuming project today. And on May first. (Ah, perfect timing.) So right away dog and I—what else?—hit Beech Hill. Sunny breezy, sweatshirt weather up in the wind, t-shirt weather in town.
No real conspicuous birds—other than a first-of-year Broad-winged Hawk I saw right away before we’d even left the parking lot. (The first-of-year Palm Warbler I saw was truly inconspicuous.) Fifteen birds in all. Buds on bushes and trees. It’s that typical May Day thing here at the 44th parallel: spring finally hits the starting line.
And I did remember “rabbit rabbit” this morning.
