Got antsy this morning watching the birds move through. Juncos, robins, white-throats moving through, south to north. Singing chickadee and titmouse and cardinal and house finch and house sparrow. Titmice and nuthatches poking about for nesting cavities. Anyway, I got antsy and so took another long early Beech Hill hike with Jack.
Plenty of birds on the hill, too. Watched a chickadee at work on a nesting cavity. Took a little video of a spring-singing chickadee. Goldfinches overhead. Saw the shrike again, lingering late. Heard first of year grackles and a killdeer.
Snow lingers in the woods, and the grass remains brown, but April is here, and spring is happening.
