The sky cleared, the temperature rose, and—eventually—the sun peaked over the eastern ridge. But earlier, in the mountain shade, before the morning light flooded the landscape, I’d already seen and/or heard (and/or photographed) quite a few more species than yesterday (including my Downy Woodpecker friend).
Then, illuminated by the sun’s winter brilliance, A Juniper Titmouse flitted up in the direction of me and dog—and posed.
The highlight of my day.
