Split rail at Beech Hill Preserve

We’ve had a few early snows here this year. Overnight there came about four or five inches of light, fluffy stuff, with temperatures cold enough to have it stick around. In fact, tomorrow—Thanksgiving Day—will be one of the coldest ever (and windiest). Should be an interesting hike in the morning.

Great Black-backed Gull.

Today’s hike resulted in no bird photos (just missed kinglet and buntings), but eight species in all—the same number as on my “Elsewhere” list. A lovely hike, a beautiful, busy day.
