Warm and humid and wet this morning. Had a good soaking with yesterday’s rain, but by mid-morning, it’d become a scorcher. Humid. Bit of a breeze. Saw or heard quite a few birds—including a redstart sitting and preening and singing, as I’ve noticed they do at this time of year. I figure it has something to do with teaching the fledgling how the song goes.
Also spied another hare—or probably the same, tamish hare—on the road by the preserve.
This afternoon, while mowing the lawn, I managed to miss an active garter snake. As soon as packed everything up and came in, it began to pour. A quick shower, though, and in its wake a little gang of gulls began to stalk the freshly mowed lawn, yanking up earthworms.
