A day of work and chores in preparation for the possibility of a couple-three snowbound days. This one had sun, cold temps (not sure it ever reached 20 degrees (F)), not much wind. Took a swing by the breakwater in case the Ross’s goose was hanging around, but all I saw were eight-one Canada’s browsing on a sunny Samoset slope. Also the same song sparrow I encountered a couple days ago.
My Beech Hill hike with Jack was a cold one, but the lack of any stout wind made it rather pleasant. Little birds at the parking lot, desolation elsewhere.
Forecasts are for anywhere from a foot to three feet of snow. Things should get interesting tomorrow night, and Saturday—if all goes well—should afford us an exciting hike. Glad I’ve got snowshoes.
