Quiet Hike

Monday, October 5th, 2020
Merlin (immature), East Millcreek, Salt Lake City, Utah, 5 October 2020.
Merlin (immature).

So quiet this morning. Lovely cool air, just me and Jack up there, birds about—but not very many. At least not until our return, when we finally left the mountain shade and entered a sunny landscape.

In fact, a good bird appeared toward the end of our excursion: a Merlin. First-of-Utah bird for me, I’m pretty sure.

Still, fall migration seems to be winding down. (Unless, that is, I’m mistaken.)
