Northern Cardinal (female).
Up pretty early, looked out the window, saw a bright sunny morning, decided to head out for hike right after I gave Jack breakfast. Which is what happened.

Song Sparrow.
Kind of surprised to see three cars in the lot at 7:30 a.m., but hey. Turns out all three of those (solo) parties had dogs with ’em—including my trail pal, Ed. Quite a few birds about that early, too—the most noteworthy among them a small flock of Yellow-rumped warblers down over the hill. The males were singing, they were all sort of skittish. I got only bad photos, but hey.
Gulls and crows and Song Sparrows (many, all singing, it seems). No hawks, but hey.
In later morning, back at home, I watched out the window as a fox—clearly the same fox I photographed a week or two ago—hurry down and along the brook. About twenty minutes later, I spied him trotting back across and into the woods beyond.
Tonight is warmish, with a big ol’ moon up there.
