American Crow.
A warm, warm morning. By midday, the temperature out there under the mostly gray sky reached the 50s. I Might’ve ridden my bike, but I was elbow deep in desk work. Fruitful desk work, I might add. But I did get out with Jack. Of course. As I do every day.

Bohemian Waxwing.
The Beech Hill trail was perhaps the muddiest it’s been all year so far. I kind of dug it. The puzzle for me is avoiding the mud. Hopscotching from rock to rock, teetering at the edge of the trail, stepping in the least mud possible. All the while helping Jack avoid mud, to boot.
Had Girl from Ipanema stuck in my head. Didn’t mind.
Not a lot of birds besides one very vocal crow and a bunch of chickadees—until we got back down to the parking lot, when I heard the faint, distinctive squeals of Bohemian Waxwings. Maybe a dozen of ’em across Beech Hill Road.
Then dog and I came home, and I did some more work, then gave him his supper, had myself a beer, and we sat and watched television together.
True story.
