A quick late-in-the-day hike for Jack and me. Quite a few fellow outdoorsy types were there—and a few other dogs. Nothing too outlandish, bird-wise, although I did hear the kwirr! call of a Red-bellied Woodpecker just as we were getting back into the pickup at the end of it all.
Most notable about our visit today, I’d say, was just how many blooms are out now—and how colorful they are. Pink, yellow, white, red, purple. Butterflies and dragonflies. Crickets. Not a lot of wind.
I picked and ate about a dozen blueberries. And tossed Jack a few.
