Up early again this morning, assuring that most of our (quick) hike took place in the mountain shade. Warmer, though—upper-70s (F) to start, I’d say, and possibly 80 by the time of our return (just before 9 a.m. DST).
A quiet morning, bird-wise, with a couple of exceptions: vocal gnatcatchers, plenty of buntings (fewer towhees), many finches, and about 140 pigeons (I’ve actually enjoyed observing Rock Pigeons here, have gotten to know their habits better than in any other place I’ve lived.)
Who knows what tomorrow will bring—other than likely three-digit temps again.
