Long-tailed Ducks

Thursday, February 8th, 2018
Long-tailed Duck, Rockport Harbor, Maine, 07 February 2018.

Long-tailed Duck.

I hiked the hill before the storm
and saw or heard a few small birds
but none would pose for photographs
so I took a spin to the harbor

where long-tailed ducks were diving here
and there and buffleheads, mallards,
and black ducks hung with herring gulls
but the long-tailed ducks were my favorite

Bluebird in the snow, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 06 February 2018.

Bluebird in the snow.

Yet another bluebird day. Twelve or fifteen were flitting around the hill this morning along with a small flock of robins and a couple of Yellow-rumped Warblers. Temps were in the 20s (F), and it’d begun to spit snow. Bluebirds didn’t care. I think they were eating frozen blueberries.
