Blue Sky Birding

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022
Canada Geese, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 22 November 2022.
Canada Geese (southbound).

A nearly cloudless morning, much warmer (and less windy) than yesterday. Few birds along the wooded trails—but more up on (or near) the open summit.

The buntings were still hanging around Beech Nut (perhaps different buntings), and again chickadees flitted about everywhere. Heard a flock of finchy-sounding birds flying overhead but couldn’t see or identify them.

Yellow-rumps and bluebirds galore. Also goldfinches. A couple woodpecker species—and a raven announcing his presence in the blue, blue sky.

Most noteworthy? A skein of a dozen Canada Geese, southbound.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
