Heard tell that a round snow showers was due soon, so Jack and I took an early hike this morning. A few birds at the start of things, but only chickadees and magpies up the mountainside—that is, until I spotted the eagles.

Three Golden Eagles, rising and circling and, finally, moving away.

A hazy sun oversaw the rest of our time up there—which included a few more of the usual species. Also played a little game of peekaboo with a mule deer doe.

The eagles were the high point, though.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
