One of My Favorite Birds

Thursday, August 2nd, 2018
Savannah Sparrow (with grasshopper or mantis), Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 02 August 2018.

Savannah Sparrow (with grasshopper or mantis).

Only ten species seen or heard on the hill this morning—an overcast, damp morning, followed by bright, very hot day. But I did get a great look at a Savannah Sparrow with a grasshopper or mantis in its beak. (Couldn’t tell, although I’ve taken photos of ’em with praying mantises in the past.)

One of my favorite birds.
