Today was one of the busiest days I’ve ever had, I’m pretty sure. It started out with the usual Friday stuff—breakfast, tend to dog, take the trash to the curb—and launched right into a big desk project. But I also wanted to get my new (used) pickup registered so I could drive again for the first time in two weeks, so I high-tailed it on my bike to the town office, took care of that paperwork, then I collected all the stuff I needed at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and cycled down there, where I sat for an hour before finally registering my truck—and getting my driver’s license renewed while I was at it. It was kind of a breeze, actually—plus, I can hardly believe my eyesight has held out so long.
Then biked it back to my desk, where I ended up working clear through until after six, when I tore myself away, put the plates on my truck, and took Jack to Beech Hill.
Sure was nice to hike the hill for only the second time in a fortnight. Cool up there, tall grass, young birds getting ready for their first migration, which won’t be to long a-comin’. Saw a little family of kingbirds, which was nice. A young robin. A young sapsucker. A Savannah sparrow with bugs crammed in its beak, chipping to warn the young ’uns.
Talked to a few kindly people. Jack was a hit with some kiddos. Then back to work some more. Finally finished up not long before midnight.
Tomorrow I’m gonna wash this new (used) vehicle of mine.
