Stirrings

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

Goldenrod, near Clam Cove, Rockport, Maine, 14 August 2014.

Goldenrod.

Started out cool and foggy, but the weather cleared by midday, and I took a nice, long, sweaty bike ride. Did some errands while I was at it—and, at the end of the day, I bought a used pickup. A 2001 Toyota Tacoma. Nothing fancy, but it should be dependable, and it drives good, and I like it fine.

Not a whole heck of a lot of bird variety, but plenty of activity. I figure the coolish August weather must be causing stirrings in the brains of birds, like voices at the edge of hearing, mumurings of the fluttery urge to migrate.

Today’s List

1. American Crow
2. Northern Cardinal (v)
3. Herring Gull
4. Cedar Waxwing
5. Rock Pigeon
6. American Goldfinch (v)
7. Osprey
8. Black-capped Chickadee (v)

v = Voice only
