Brilliantly sunny and cool, with a little breeze. When I took Jack out at midday when the temperature hovered in the mid-60s (F), I realized that not very many months ago I had stepped out into such temperatures thinking, Ahhh! Warmth! It’s all a matter of perspective.
Busy day at the kitchen table, working alongside Sarah. Finally, toward late-afternoon, I took Jack up to Beech Hill, where somehow we ended up hiking all trails. But first, right in the parking lot just steps from my pickup, I saw a bunch of little birds flitting through the trees and counted a half-dozen species right away. Got three times that many eventually—including a surprise Philadelphia vireo hanging out with some yellow-rumps—the last of which was a nearby osprey that I heard but never did see. It must’ve been flying just above the treetops or something.
Chilly again tonight. Seasons changing. Birds moving.
