Dog and I had been hiking the open Beech Hill trail for weeks—until yesterday, when I decided to hit all trails, including the lovely, tangly, ticky wooded trails. Enjoyed it so much we did it again today (albeit a lot later in the day).
No exotic migrants or anything—although I did get a glimpse of a crow being dive-bombed by a smaller bird, although I didn’t see what that smaller bird was—but the wooded trails again yielded some interest. Again it started with the voice of a pewee. Again we stood in the woods as I scanned the canopy. Again I saw black-and-white warblers and heard nuthatches and got a glimpse of a pewee. No vireos today, though, for some reason.
One interesting switch: heard the chip note of a white-throat as we returned from the bottomlands.
The air is getting chilly. I wore long sleeves today. Closed a couple more windows this evening.
